Would it be possible to allow some customizability for the Ping Pong Bot in future updates to the system?

Ping Pong trading works best in sideways markets so it would be great if the bot had the ability to use an indicator to turn itself off in a trending market to prevent losses.

Maybe a few safeties and insurances would be nice as well. :D

This can already be done. If you make a trade-bot and give it the dynamic high/low indicator then you got the pingpong bot close to replicated. From this point the options to add safeties or insurances are endless. ;)

I'm afraid results of PingPong and Dynamic adjusting Buy/Sell is not same. Here is some results of backtest:

Starting with 10 XMR and backtesting 1 week.
Dynamic adjusting Buy/Sell: Total gain 0.020775 BTC
PingPong: Total gain: 0.04163587 BTC

PingPong is more profitable.

Does the ping pong bot execute maker or taker orders?

Good question, i can not give a direct answer.

All bots are set to use limit (maker) orders. However this is not always possible, if there is no room inside the orderbook then it has to use a targeted limit order which is in fact a market (taker) order. So i am unable to give a direct answer to this question, its really depend on each unique situation what happens in high detail.

@ehsan:
You are right, it is not 100% totally the same. I did tried to tweak the pingpong bot a little to make it a little bit better. Its a very tiny difference, but it can be seen.

What happens behind the scenes of the ping pong bot? It takes a long time to finally place an order. When the target buy and sell limits are created, it usually has missed a bunch of opportunities to make a profit already. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
